DOT Physical Exams

In the State of Texas a DOT physical exam is required every 24 months. It is a general health evaluation required in order to operate a commercial vehicle. Referred to as a “medical fitness for duty”examination, our examination ensures that each driver is capable and healthy enough to successfully complete the duties associated with commercial driving.

Who needs a DOT Exam?

Anyone operating a vehicle on an interstate hwy, with a gross weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more, are required to pass a DOT exam. 


Your test will consist of :

  • Vision test for 20/40 Vision as well as the ability to distinguish colors found on traffic signals.

  • Hearing test

  • Blood pressure test. (Use of prescription medication to achieve an allowed blood pressure threshold is permitted)

  • Blood sugar check (may not be higher than 200)

  • Urine Drug Test. No use of a Schedule 1 drug, amphetamine, narcotic or any habit forming drug is allowed.
